Is it accurate? In my own research and in magazine articles i find it isn't all the time. How do you find using it?

Daniel If you are referring to the Mormon site, I have used it extensively. No, it isn't always accurate. But then, information on certificates/in newspaper cuttings/family letters/censuses isn't always accurate either! There are also periods and places it doesn't cover. However, it did give me a huge amount of information and pointed me in the right geographical direction for relatives all for free and I am very grateful. Once I'd got the hang of it, it became easier to use, and mistakes like transcribing some of my family as Maling or Meling instead of Mealing were soon sorted. I found using Hugh Wallis' IGI site in connection with family search has been tremendously useful. Helen

Take note of the message at the bottom of a person's record. If it says something like 'extracted from local records' that's what it is and probably fairly accurate. BUT if it says somthing like 'submitted by a member' then take this with a very large pinch of salt. Sometimes people make huge assumptions or just a wild guess at the record. Unfortunately there seems to be no way of correcting records. I guess that's why there are often multiple entries for some people - they have been updated over the years. Anne
