Hi Mary, somebody on GR recommended this site recently: http://www.gengateway(.)com/ I clicked on "international gateway" and kept on hitting "next" till I got to "I" http://www.gengateway(.)com/index.cfm?gid=9 there are five links there to italian gen. sites, hopefully you can find something there that will help ! good luck !

Does anyone know if Italy held censuses in the 1800's and if so where would I find them? I am trying to find one around 1851. I have tried Google but all I can come up with is recent ones which they do hold every ten years. Any suggestion would be greatfully received. Mary
