I ordered a certificate Thursday pm from GRO in Belfast and it arrived today 4 days early, only to find that my Nana has called herself by a third different christian name, my mum's birth cert she was Mary, on her wedding cert she was Minnie, on her death cert she is Margaret! Lynda

Lynda, i have a similar kind of thing.my nans name was Frances and as i was close to her i called my daughter Eloise Frances.then in 2002 my uncle died and my mum and dad had to go over to ireland to sort out his things(he never married).imagine my dads shock when he found his brothers birth cert and found that in fact his mums name wasn't Frances but Sarah!!!!. Hi Karen, Irish relatives certainly like to make it hard to do research don't they, I think my dad must have guessed that her name was Margaret when he registered her death, bless him. Lynda

Hi Linda, I am as bad myself I have always been called Lynda but my name is Anne, Lynda is nowhere to be found on my birth certificate - I have 4 brothers and 1 sister only one brother goes by correct name. Lynda

My aunt is known as Gladys north of the Thames and Sue to the south.

Well I've been searching for an Annie Norman Well its "Annie" on son's birth certificate and in 1901 census age 42 born Ireland. Can't find her or partner/husband on 1891 census, can't find marriage certificate, can't find son's baptism certificate in 1901(though supposedly RC), can't find death certificate but told it was pre 1911 census!!! Possible different christian name and Norman might be maiden name or previous married name!!! One big brick wall here!!!
