What relationship is my mother's cousin to me? Is she my second cousin or my first cousin once removed? Thanks Lynne |

Lynne First, second, third cousin implies degree of closeness. Once, twice, third time removed etc implies generations. So you have a cousin. You and your cousin are first cousins. Your child and your cousin are first cousins, once removed. Your cousin's child and you are first cousins, once removed. Your child and your cousin's child are second cousins. If th3y have children, those children would be third cousins to eachother, and second cousin once removed to their parent's cousin. |
