Does it say if the wife is a widow, or married, if it says married perhaps he was away looking for work. Can some one look on the 1861 or 51 census for you. Put all the details on here like where when the children born and their ages and we will see what we can find for you. Irene

I've been searching for my Goodyear family for a while. I found mother and 3 children in workhouses in 1871 but no sign of father (William Edward Goodyear). I thought maybe he had died hence the family misfortune. Unfortunately I don't know where or when he was born. I found a death cert for William Goodyear aged 45 in 1866. As I thought this could be him, I ordered the cert hoping to find his wife as the informat. I was excited to find the person in question died of strangulation: Formal hanging of a prisoner, Wormwood Scrubs and occupation listed as a mason. My William's occupation was as bricklayer on his marriage cert. Anyway, I would like to verify if this cert belongs to me or not however when I checked out the official site of HMP Wormwood Scrubs it says they were built in 1875. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find more information?
