I'm currently searching my husband's ancestor, Isabella WATSON. She was a 25 yr old dairymaid from Larnackshire who emigrated to NZ on the Zealandia in 1862 and married Rees GRIFFITHS (from Wales) in 1867 in Christchurch, New Zealand. Searching on IGI I'm not sure if I've found the right Isabella, but I did find one with father James WATSON and Isabella WHITE. However, I also found a Jane Armour WATSON about the same age, with father James WATSON but mother Rachel RATTRAY. It was the ARMOUR middle name that caught my attention, as our Isabella gave her second son, Henry, that same middle name. Is it common in Scotland, as I've never heard of it before? Wondering if they're both likely to be connected; maybe James had 2 wives. Sue (NZ)

June, Armour is in fact quite a famous name in Scotland, although not so popular nowadays. It was the maiden name of Robert Burns the famous Scots poets wife. She was Jean Armour. If you do a search in Google, you will find out more about her, maybe your related!!!! Christine

The use of family names (surnames/maiden names) as a middle name in Scotland is very common.
