Bought this the other and thought I would recommend it. Although I haven't put any of it into practice yet, it's a very interesting read. It's split into Births, Marriages and Deaths and is basically problem-based, offering steps to follow if you can't find a record. It offers alternative sources and some insight into the historical context, for example stats on how many baptisms weren't recorded, and how many entries on the BMD index are likely to be incorrect. I have no connection to the writer/publisher of this book - just thought I'd pass on a recommendation. You can't miss it in bookshops - it's got a bright yellow cover ! Simon
