illegitimate grandmother?

have found these orphanages in Gateshead: Girls Training Home and Orphanage, Bottle Bank, Gateshead Gateshead, Durham 1 record noted: Scope 1918-65: admission and discharge register Repository Tyne and Wear Archives Service so might not be the place you were after. Found quite a few Catholic schools not sure if they were day or boarding though.

this is an update to my previous message. thanks for the help. I believe my grandmother could be illegitimate and not registered at birth. Date of birth believed to be 05/05/1906 in gateshead. I now believe her parents didnt marry until sept 1907. I also think she was placed in a convent in gateshead by the time she was 6 years old.Any ideas where to go from here? any way to check convents and those placed in their care? many thanks carol
