More likely he was hiding from my GG grandma! I did hear that there was a lot of discussion behind closed doors in the early 1940s which is when Emma died. None of the children were told a thing ... but my old Aunt can remember it very well. I'll look out for your bods too. Best wishes A

Yes I think it could be that mispelt on the marriage cert. Hope you find your elusive frenchman, perhaps he was travelling to work? If you find a Harry Cheesman born brighton 1862-3 father James, a shoemaker on 1881 whilst looking let me know , lost him too, perhaps they were together eluding the census enumerator.... Kim

Hi Kim There's a Tichborne Street in Brighton, pretty much in the centre. Could it be that? Postcode BN1 1UR on Streetmap. my sister in law lives near there - North Laines xxx A (still wandering round Gravesend looking for Ernest)

I have a new marriage certificate but despite peering and peeking from all angles cannot make out the address. The first letter is a T or L then it looks like" ile" then an "h" and then it's definitely "borne" on the end. I have tried multimap but cannot work out what it could be. Does anyone know Brighton or work out what it could be !? Cheers. Kim
