Hi Louise Glad you have found your birth. If I were you, I would send for a copy via the 1837 link to GRO (right hand side of the page, near the top), as you will always be glad you've got it rather than just having a look at it in the offices. Good luck, Mandy :)

The number (volume, page) means NOTHING AT ALL to the local office. It is just the entry in the national index.

there is a link on 1837 for the purchase of certificates they cost 7.00. i have used them quite a few times and they are very prompt, they usually arrive within a week. brenda x

I WENT ON THE 1837ONLINE SITE AND FOUND MY REGISTERED BIRTH DETAILS AND NOW HAVE A VOL AND PAGE NUMBER,IF I GO TO THE OFFICE WERE IT WAS REGISTERED WOULD I BE ABLE TO LOOK UP AND READ MY FULL BIRTH CERTIFICATE(?) AND IF NOT WOULD I HAVE TO BUY ONE BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS KINDLY OFFERED TO GO TO THE REGISTRY OFFICE FOR ME AS I DONT LIVE ANYWHERE NEAR IT
