Dave You can use the reference - year, quarter, registration district, volume and page no. - to order his birth certificate. This will give his parents' names. You can then look for their marriage. The parents' fathers' names will be on this so you can go further back. The parents will be on 1901 census online so you can find them. They might be married and have other children which will be listed, or if they are single, they might be living with their respective families, which will hopefully give you their parents names. You can trawl through 1837 (expensive) or go to a local records centre/decent library and find the GRO indexes on microfiche. You can find any surnames matching yours in the right dates which might be siblings. After 1911 I believe the mother's maiden name is there too, which you can use to check they are the right parents. Ok, so I've been to 1837 online and found my father - born Canarvon 1904. But I knew that! What can I do with that information? How do I find his parents and any siblings? Dave
