Hi people, many thanks for your info. I have the date of birth for the last child (still alive at 96!) so will be sending off for her birth certificate to see if there is any more info on the mysterious Beryl !!! I wasnt sure if the mothers details would be on there but having checked another cert from 1917 (it is on there then) will keep my fingers crossed and hope its there.

Scotlandspeople are having problems putting new records on the site. The dates were given them by the GRO and are possibly way out. Its hoped the 1871 census will be available in the next few months?!!!!!

I've got a missing marriage that has driven me mad for years! I'm looking for the marriage of James Nesbit and Jane Logan. I've found them both single on the 1841 census but they are married by 1851. They did live rather near the Scottish border so I guess they might have gone over to get married but I can't find them in the Scottish records either. *sigh* Fortunately, I have been able to find their parents in the census returns and get past it but it has been very frustrating. Sarah I looked on FreeBMD and found a marriage between a Thomas Taylor and a Mary Ann BERRILL 1886 Banbury 3a 1428. Could this be where Beryl comes from? Alternatively, if you know the 1908 birth, could you get a birth cert which would have the maiden name on it? Helen

Can anyone give me any ideas, Thomas Taylor bn c1856 in Shutford,Banbury was married to Beryl. They had 8 children, the only date of birth I have is for the youngest in 1908. Working the principle of one child per year, I spent 4 hrs on Ancestry looking at all the Thomas Taylor marriages from 1881 to 1900 and guess what....no trace. I have tried familysearch...no trace. 1901 Census...after spending a small fortune and crashing my computer I gave up. Where do I look now!!!!
