It's well worth looking at the parish registers if you can get to the relevant records office...sometimes you get very liitle, but i have also been surprised at how much info there is . You can also get copies by post. You do get the whole page then, and that can be useful in marriage records to see if the witnesses are unique or are the parish verger or other official. Good hunting Joan

Patricia Although you would need to check the original registers, which are kept in record offices, you can use the LDS site www.familysearch.org which has info taken from the registers in its databases. There are places and years which are not there, and with everything else there are mistakes, but it can be a good guide to when and where to look. Helen

You will need to investigate the OPRs (old Parish Registers). I think they have been transferred to microfiche and you can view them at the record offices. Also you can order the certs in the same way but they came for me as just one entry on a whole page as a copy of the original hand written register. The info is unpredictable, mostly on mine it is her name and parish and his name and parish "regularly married" on and at. No parents or anything. Unless you were important or the priest did not like you. He entered my relative's birth and listed parents and then listed the birth of a half brother in the next village with another unmarried woman! Don't think he approved of his father! Good luck Abigail

There are no certificates pre-1837. You will need to gain access to the parish records.

Hi, I have just found a load of relatives pre-1837, can anyone tell me how I gain access to their records, I have three generations in the same place, and I need all certs for them. Many thanks. Patricia
