Hi Tricia I should have rellies somewhere in Ireland but where I don't know and as Bourke is one of the 12 names of Ireland I just don't know how to begin When I look at muster rolls for the army there are always hundreds of Bourkes My other Irish family name is Barry and I think they came from Wexford but when I don't know My daughters married name is McMylor there is an entry in GrifFiths records for that name . When she went to Dublin she made enquiries and was told that McMylor hasn't existed as a surname in Ireland for hundreds of years All the people named McMylor in our area are rellies of my son in law Bren

I know how you feel. My grandad's family name was Manouvrier and they originate from France. Got no chance of ever tracing that side of the family. Julie

Hi Brenda, Do you still have living relatives in Ireland? If so you could put a request in the local paper for information, i did this as i knew my dad (deceased) had relatives over there still. I received a reply from his cousin(checked he was who he said he was) and now he is helping me with my research. Good luck Tricia

My Grandfather James Bourke was b in India in 1867 whilst his father also James Bourke was a soldier there In 1888 James Bourke( a serving Soldier) m Amelia Marquand in Guernsey and in 1910 they and their children came to live in Royton Lancashire. My grandfather had a brother called Martin and he went back to live in Ireland During the 2nd world war and shortly afterwards my Stepgrandmother Regina Bourke about twice a year sent all our outgrown but not outworn clothes and shoes to Martins family in Ireland Amongst these were the white satin dresses my cousins and I wore on Sundays for church Is there anyone out there who can remember these dresses or has any info about Martin Bourkes family Bren
