I am looking for Elizabeth Walbank she had a Jane born 1835 Preston area, Jane was illigitimate christened in catholic church St Wilfrids, On her marriage in 1856 she named her father as George Spencer it is so unusual to find father and not mother. What a brick wall this is. Someone said if I could trace Elizabeth on the 1841 or 1851 census this would probably confirm. Please could some one help me. Getting desperate now. |

I'm confused (not unusual) Was it Elizabeth or Jane who got married in 1856. Why do you say its unusual to find only father - English marriage certificates always (well nearly always) name fathers but not mothers. |

If Jane was born in 1835 we can assume that elizabeth was born 1831 - 16 at least?(Eliz born C1819) there are lots of Elizabeth Walbanks on 1871 in Lancs. can you narrow it down any more? jess |
