Tricia, The Leitrim/Roscommon site is patchy on the rest of Ireland- needs the other counties to offer the info, I think. They do have a database listing all the townlands- I think it covers all 32 counties. It would still mean fitting the address into a townland, but it could be that a memory is jogged somewhere- mum suddenly named her townland in among chat in a phonecall 8 or 9 years ago- I wrote it on a scrap of paper & still have that! She later denied all knowledge of the place, even though fully in her faculties! Here's the addy: http://www.leitrim/roscommom.*com/cgi-bin/newcen-srch/ (without the * of course) Found my Leitrim lot- not at all as mum had described them- but there's not a thing for dad's county, Monaghan. Genuki & rootsweb seem to offer plenty of contacts, name boards etc, but nowhere can I find the Monaghan 1901 on line. But it's a great excuse for a quick trip over there, to check on the spot! That will no doubt raise many more questions- keeps me interested. happy hunting, Mary |

Leitrim and Roscommon have been transcribed and can be searched by surname. They are also adding other counties on the same site. Can't remember the address but type 'Leitrim Roscommon 1901 census' into google |
