Although Yorkshire is included on the 1871 census on Ancestry can any one tell me why I can't seem to find any info on Leeds. Is it because it comes under West Yorkshire which will be listed separately?

 Sue In Yorkshire.

Maggie I've found James Haylock and his mother Sarah on the census. No luck with Henry Mayes, yet but still trying. Can you e-mail me and then I can send you the images as pdf files. Regards Sue

Sue, yes please My GG Grandfather was living in Great Thurlow or Withersfield, Suffolk.James Haylock, then aged about 27, wife Charlotte. Also his Mother Sarah, possibly living with her parents, William and Martha. (James was illegitimate) Also trying to trace Charlotte's family - no details other than her maiden name Mayes and Father's name Henry. Grateful for any help. Thanks, Maggie

Somerset's not there yet. The next ones will be Lancashire, Rutland and Surrey so Somerset is not even in the next batch! I'm waiting for Lancashire so hoping they won't be long. Sue

Poor old Norfolk & Durham seem to be the poor cousins when being done for census purposes. Oh well, I've waited this long what's another few months, years.......! Thanks anyway! Zoe

I'm waiting for Scotlands People to get the 1871 online, they say summer 2004. Wish they'd hurry up. In fact they are supposed to be loading all sorts of new stuff in summer 2004, when does summer end over there? :-) Sylvia in NZ

More 1871 census counties have come online at Ancestry including Suffolk. Anyone need a look-up? Sue
