Start with Scots Origins which is a free site. When you have exhauseted that, use Scotlands People which is a pay for view site but is really excellent and very good value for money. gies you absolutely tons of information. Happy hunting Pam

Hi Sue as Pam says the best is Scotland' people, here are a few more http://www.cyndislist.*com/scotland.htm http://genforum.genealogy.*com/scotland/ http://www.ancestralscotland.*com/ http://www.sctbdm.*com/ Just out of interest, what areas will you be researching? Hope these are helpful but S.P. should be your first port of call and as Scottish certs have a lot more info on them than English/Welsh then you should get off to a good start good luck Christine

Sue have a look at this site. Bill and Chris Lawson have researched the genealogy of every household in the Outer Hebrides for the last two hundred years and are able to advise on what resources are available. http://www.seallam.*com/*coleisthu.htm Try this forum for Lewis http://genforum.genealogy.*com/scotland/isleoflewis/ Christine

Sue, I am also doing Lewis, what are your names? There is another site that gives the 1841 census for Lewis and this is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb(.)com/~relys4u If you have a problem getting there let me know. Christine, thanks for those sites relating to Lewis. I didn't know about them. Pam
