Amanda / Phillip, Thanks for your responses... I have posted messages before asking for census lookups on him, but so far no joy...except for 1871... I am trying to get earlier census lookups for him which might point me to his mothers name (I have the father from the marriage certificate)...and any possible siblings...I was hoping I met get a siblings name who was born after 1837, so that I might be able to order their birth certificate and get an address. The details I do have (from the marriage certificate and 1871 census) are these: Name: Samuel James Etherton Born: St.Lukes, Middlesex Birth Date:1836(poss 1835) Occupation:Ladies Shoemaker Spouses Name: Nancy (Ann) Cox Address on Marriage Certificate in 1865: 2 Union St/Friar St, Southwark Fathers Name: Samuel James Etherton Fathers Occupation: Shoemaker I don't know if its possible to get other siblings name with the same father from the different CDs, but that would be very useful to me also, as I could order their certificates (if post 1837) Thats about all I have. If you can help I would be very grateful. Regards Martin

Hi, I am considering using the LMA's online services to do a search for an ancestor of mine....born 1836... I was wondering if anyone has any (hopefully positive) experiences of using their services as I would like to have a little confidence instilled in me before shelling out 35 quid for one hours research. Or alternatively if anyone is visiting the LMA themselves in person and is willing to help this worthless soul out of his misery even better. Unfortunately as I live in Holland it is not so simple to get down there in person myself ! Regards Martin
