Thank you all. I did not think about Ince being a middle or stepfathers name. I will try your suggestions. Thanks again Helena X

Helena Not sure it helps, but can see birth of a Roseanna Turner, registered Dudley June quarter, 1843 - Vol 18/page 316. Also Ince/Bingham marriage, registered in Dudley in the December quarter 1868, which you already have. 1881 census? How about Bingham family, coming from Lye, Worcs? Father Joseph, wife Hannah (both 38 = born 1843) Living in Lye. Just clutching at straws, with chance of incorrect name for Roshannah? Ian

I would guess that TURNER was her father at the time i.e. possibly a step-father.

Might she have had Ince as a second name, and the Turner got missed off, might find her mother was Ince before she married. Val

I have a Roshannah Turner in my tree who married Joseph Bingham about 1868. I have been searching for the marriage for some years. Nice chap down the archives found a marriage between Roshannah Ince and Joseph Bingham in 1868, Tipton. Wrong one I said! Until I looked again. Her fathers name was TURNER and his fathers name was correct. However she was described as spinster so where does Ince come in. Obvious I thought, shes divorced and saying shes a spinster to get married in church. But then why would she use her married name and if shes widowed why not just say so. To add to the mystery my sister swears she has seen her on the 1871 census using her maiden name Roshannah Turner!! Can anyone unravel this? Regards Helena
