Try the local library (Camden?), the Romford one found an article for us on my wife's grandfather killed in a road accident in 1926.

If it was in the local papers then the Colindale Newspaper library will most likely have a copy. If you go on their website you can look in the online catalogue to find what the local newspapers was/is called. SAndi

Sue - if you can phone the London Metropolitan Archives, they should at least be able to tell you where you can find some info - even if they don't have it themselves. Good luck! Maz. XX

Thanks for the advice Susan, This one is proving a bit difficult to find (nothing unusual there!) All I know is that as a child (conflicting ages from family) he drowned in the Regents Park Canal. I found a possible for him and was hoping to confirm by way of some sort of newspaper story. I will check out your suggestions Susan. Sue:-)

If there was a coroner's inquest it probably would have been reported in the local paper. You could contact the Local History Library for that area to see what newspapers were in circulation at that time. or the British Newspaper library in Colindale. If it was reported in the paper there usually is quite a lot of detail about the deceased. Two of my ancestors died in tragic circumstances and because the inquest was reported in the local paper I found out more about their lives than I ever would have using 'officlal' records. Good Luck!

If my G Uncle drowned in Regents Park Canal in 1921 aged 15, would it have made the papers. Is there anywhere that would have records of this sort of incident? Sue:-)
