Thanks for the help, bit of a problem as you can see. I suspected death at child birth. The one’s you give are possibilities but there seems to be a few Fergusons in those 2 areas so I don’t think it is them. In fact pretty sure. I will have to send for some certs but no guarantee it is them unless a rellie is on them. John

Hello John, I've had a look round and you've probably discounted these already but here goes: Mary Anne Ferguson died Mansfield registered June 1882 Vol 7b Page 45 (she would have been about the right age) also Rose Ann Ferguson Marriage registered Sept. 1893 in Gateshead. Volume 10a but there is a query on the page no. so I can't look for a spouse. These entries are on free BMD Hope this helps Mags

Need suggestions and help. Yes it’s the Ferguson’s again. Looking for death of parents of the infamous Riley. Robert Ferguson born 1842 London Mary Ann Ferguson (nee Guest) born 1839 Nottingham. Problem is I can’t find their deaths. I have searched the GRO about 6 times, from 1870 to 1892, and there is no sign. Their last child, Richard was born 1874 so Mary must have been alive then. They do not appear to be on the 1881 census but I am only using LDS and neither on the 1891. In 1878 their children, Robert b 1867, Rose Ann b 1869 plus Richard and Riley were in Bradford Workhouse, Yorkshire. Rose and Robert jnr are on the 1881, then they disappear. I have looked for a marriage for Rose as well. I am either asking for suggestions as to what may have happened or if anyone with spare time could look just in case I have missed something. After 4 months of looking I am now wondering if I will ever find them. I need to ‘kill’ them off. I am off to Bradford Archives next week, as well as the FH Fair at York, so would welcome any help which may solve this mystery.
