Anyone know what "widson" is?

Hi. On the 1881 census entry for my Gr Grandparents and their family it states "widson" for the occupations of 2 of their sons. As anyone ever heard of this? many thanks Jackie

Are you sure that's what it says? A search on Google didn't show anything other than a couple of surnames.

Don't know can you check anothr census for clues may have been something mistranscribed

Just a thought, you know how these census people's minds work! How about widow/widowers son? Were they of an age to work or at school? Margaret

Thanks for all your replies. On 1881 census they were aged 18 and 20. Their father was listed as a labourer so don't think they had same occ as him. Just looked at 1901 census and they are both listed as stone masons! Jackie
