if you google "irfanview" you can download it to view tiff files. Its free. The plus side is if you want to print them off you can crop and edit all those annoying black bits round the edge that use up half your ink cartridge!!

Zoe What would the imaging program be called?

PDF viewers can be downloaded free and would probably give you the biggest image for teh smallest file size. I personally would use a TIFF alway because the quality of the image is far better - but that would only be suitable if you had an imaging programme that will let you view it.

I want to download some census images from the 1901 site but don't know whether I should view them as a PDF, Applet or TIFF. I haven't got a clue what it means. I'm hoping to send the images on to my american cousin via email. Jeanette
