Anyone notice the All Blacks beat the Poms tonight? Any tips you want me to pass onto your team? Still cheering Marlene

Cheeky! Actually I am still on cloud nine because my team Wasps won the Heineken European Cup and the domestic league. If Clive Woodward had picked them (with 3 exceptions because they arent eligible to play for England) I think they would have put up a better show. Anyway enjoy your moment! Helen

Ah yes but the england team is somewhat under par due to retirements, injuries and those wanting a rest after world cup and league.. However saying that NZ were awesome and really up for it and didn't let england play the game they wanted to play - just what you usually expect from them - so what happened during the world cup? As a rugby fan must admit I didn't expect a great deal from england this tour especially as they got beat a couple of times since the world cup.

A good day for the kiwis. Looks as though they might even manage a draw in the cricket as well, having been total hammered in the first 2 test matches.

Sorry folks but there have been 4 million parties today....!! Thanks for all your responses and I 'm surprised Geoff that I haven't been thrown off before! And Maz I think my Fairys were sitting on Daniel Carters shoulder as well as the other 14 members of the team. Delighted we've wooed Graham Henry back from Wales and ain't Tana my local hero a little darling -he's even forgiven for not using Becks hairdresser! About to take my sore head and hoarse throat to beddie byes for wee while until the cricket starts. Roll on next Saturday! I'll let you know the outcome Cheers Marlene

Marlene I shall be watching (probably through my fingers) so will know the result when you do. I don't think my team can play any worse...

Ready to talk cricket now, Marlene???

Marlene

Marlene Report 13 Jun 2004 23:48

OK coming down off a high (induced by depression over the cricket) but can't wait till next weekend and it'll be more fun now knowing YOU will all be sitting there biting nails and chomping chips and drinking copious quantities of warm English beer. I won't mention the Aussies - you guys are very generous- the battle across the Ditch is something else! Wish I could tell you I was going to be in the crowd but a 7 hour drive is a bit far even for this FANatic. Back to the family history - did I mention one of my Fairys was born in RUGBY??? Lotsaluv Marlene

Rugby is a game played by Fairys. The name "Gilbert" which you see on Rugby balls was an ancestor of my wife's. We have the front page of the family Bible to prove it.

Is that what you call it Marlene?,the battle across the ditch lol, i like it.But i don,t much like the reference to warm english beer .from the stuff you send over here you wouldnt know a decent beer ,or lager if you saw it .The danes make the best lagers ,and the brits make the best beers, end of story[a newcastle brown fan]. p/s,the aus lager isn,t tooooo bad. Oh Geoff you are miffed I can tell. Can only surmise you prefer those round balls/no hands games. And how well did your team do last weekend? Never mind darling 6 changes made to the Pommie team for this weekend & Clive W is muttering excuses. I just look forward to the tussle - sigh -all those strong young thighs and buttocks. Lostaluv Marlene Still drinking bacardi & coke...

Just caught this thread, keep the windups going Marlene, I believe this is the first defeat of an England XV by a team from the southern hemisphere in 13 games (not including Argentina). Personally, if it was not for all the money in the game, it was a stupid venture after the past nine months. But if it is money they are after, then they have to share the glory as well. No team is unbeatable. I could not watch the game from Dunedin or the next one, French TV does not support English Rugby abroad. I hope the next game is closer in score and not a runaway. Best wishes to all supporters of odd shaped balls, Derek in France
