On the IGI search of the LDS site, if you enter the father's full name and mother's name, select birth/christening and a wide year range say +/- 10 yrs of a date you know, and your region and county, you should get back a list of all chilldren known to those parents. Not all will be yours of course, but you can usually group them by the place name. Helen

I saw that too Geoff but was unsure as I don't know the area. There was also a John born around the right time with the same parents but the place was given as Liverpool, Lancashire. Jeanette

From IGI -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THOMAS GORST Male -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event(s): Birth: 1819 Norwich, , Lancashire, England -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parents: Father: ROBERT GORST Family Mother: MARTHA BROWN I know the place looks silly, but NORTHWICH is only a mile from Leftwich

Hi Catherine No it's not eough to assume they were brothers (although it does seem likely). They could be cousins. The best way to check is to have a look at the parish registers for Leftwich and Winsford to see what the parents names were in each case. Jeanette

How can I find out if the following are brothers as they were both born pre 1837? THOMAS GORST Head M Male 64 Leftwich, Cheshire, England Bricklayer Source Information: Dwelling Malkins Bank Census Place Betchton, Cheshire, England Family History Library Film 1341847 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 3537 / 26 Page Number 8 AND JOHN GORST Head W Male 55 Winsford, Cheshire, England Waterman Source Information: Dwelling 156 High St Census Place Over, Cheshire, England Family History Library Film 1341844 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 3527 / 78 Page Number 5 They both had sons called WILLIAM GORST, born within in a year of each other who married sisters (EMMA and ELIZA STRINGER) and witnessed each others weddings! Is this enough to assume that THOMAS and JOHN were brothers and the 2 WILLIAMS cousins?? Cate :-)
