Returned emails from contacts

I've just noticed on my failed reply that the senders email address differed from the address to which GeRe forwarded my original message. And guess what - when sending to that earlier address it's not been bounced. So check the chain of messages Gwynne to see if there is another address earlier on.

No, AOL not involved in my exchange of messages. I'm coldmail, the sender is ntl (GeRe being paranoid deleted the opposite of coldmail the previous time I deigned to mention even the name!)

Are any of you guys using AOL by any chance? It's notoriously bad for bouncing incoming emails >:( Their filters are set too high! My friend still can't recieve emails from me even though she's specified to accept from my addy. I think it has something to do with my email containing my name spelled Sioux. Email filters are preceiving it as sex! It's so frustratig! Sioux

Several emails we have tried sending directly have not arrived at the other end, someone confirmed this! Joy

I don't we can even blame GeRe as the reply goes direct to the other party's email, bypassing GeRe altogether. GeRe did admit to me a couple of weeks ago that they recognised they had a problem in sending the initial contact email, but that they hoped the server upgrade(since taken place) would fix the problem.

I am stumped Gwynneth, especially since the chap that e-mailed me used two different addys, and when I replied, I clicked on the addy, so there could have been no mistake. Lisa xx

So it's not just me!! We have been getting very few e mails this week compared to normal, then I saw a posting that Val had tried 3 times to send a return reply to my e mail. What could be the reason?

Well Gwynneth I have had the same thing happen to me, twice, from the same person using different e-mail addresses each time! The first time I left a message on the general board about it, and although no one answered the message, he e-mailed me again, with a different addy, and again, after writing him another e-mail, it bounced back!!!! I think this is very strange, and he probably thinks I am ignoring him, but have left another message, also found him on GC/R, and sent him a message through here also. What can you do????? Very odd! Plus it is frustrating, because it appears we do have a common ancestor. Lisa xx

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I've tried sending a message via GC. There is no link to my tree but the person may also have lost positive contacts. Gwynne

You could also try to contact them via the Your Contacts link, which has provision to look at the original email, and to send a further email. But if for example that person's inbox is full which is the reason for your email reply not being delivered then a GeRe message should also be bounced. The same thing has happened to me in the past week - all my reply messages to the sender keep getting bounced. I'm just keeping on trying to send the message!

Hi Gwynneth, How frustrating! Only thing I can suggest is you put a message on the General Topics board, with the person's name as the title--other people do this regularly. Another option is to enter their name in the 'search' box on your home page, and try emailing them through that. Good luck!

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else is having a similar difficulty. I was contacted by someone about my tree and I replied direct to their email addy only to have it returned as undeliverable. This person must think I'm very rude but I have tried to respond but can't. Gwynne
