Does anyone know what denomination would worship in a tabernacle specifically the Brougham Street one in Sunderland. |

Don't know about Sunderland, but the Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) has them. |

Most likely Methodists. My 2xgrts married in the Kingswood Tabernacle built for George Whitfield who I suppose along with the Wesleys became the Methodists or dissenters as they were originally known. Jan |

I tried a google search, using "tabernacle sunderland brougham" and had a few results, including a drawing of the building, in case this helps. |

I go to the Hunslet Baptist Tabernacle in Leeds, so it may just be a nice word to use in the title of a church. |

Thanks everyone, I was a bit confused as my Dad was a Catholic but when I recieved his parents marriage certificate it states they were married in the Tabernacle. This is the hardest line I have traced as we had no contact after the late sixties and the name is Smith!!! |
