Does anyone know what denomination would worship in a tabernacle specifically the Brougham Street one in Sunderland.

Don't know about Sunderland, but the Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) has them.

Most likely Methodists. My 2xgrts married in the Kingswood Tabernacle built for George Whitfield who I suppose along with the Wesleys became the Methodists or dissenters as they were originally known. Jan

I tried a google search, using "tabernacle sunderland brougham" and had a few results, including a drawing of the building, in case this helps.

I go to the Hunslet Baptist Tabernacle in Leeds, so it may just be a nice word to use in the title of a church.

Thanks everyone, I was a bit confused as my Dad was a Catholic but when I recieved his parents marriage certificate it states they were married in the Tabernacle. This is the hardest line I have traced as we had no contact after the late sixties and the name is Smith!!!
