im trying to trace my g/dads parents but im v limited on the info i have as we have never known much about his family & sadly i deceiced to start this after his death. he originally came from wigan to sheffield. i have all his certs(birth, marr & death, even some war records) but now im stuck. birth cert shows, clifford douglas jones(not the best name to search). born 14th nov 1918, 23 ormskirk rd, pemberton, wigan. father-frederick jones-marine stone dealer. mother-hannah jones formerly parker. not sure if g/dad had siblings, wasnt a great talker. searched 1837 from 1912 through to 1920 & tried BMD. totally stuck & frustrated, any advice will be great. thanks.

\do you know if he had any siblings. If not try and trace on 1837 his parents marriage certificate if you get that would give both their male parents names. you would need to know where they got married though! Kim

Hi Kerry, at what age did your grandfather marry? I don't have ancestory, but i had a quick look on 1901 census for the Marine name and there is no Frederick on there and there is only about 18 names all toll, have a look maybe something will ring a bell. I could have been mis-spelt. Belle.
