I think Anerley/Penge is now in South East London, under the London Borough of Bromley Council. Maybe their website could help www.bromley.(gov).(uk)

On the 1881 census, my great grandfather is found located in the following dwelling. North Surrey District Schools Anerley Road Penge There are many other children (and some nuns) listed at the same location.... Does anyone have any idea what this place would have been ? A boarding school, or a school for orphans or any other suggestions..
