If anyone is interested there is a graph page on freebmd that tells you the percentage of births, marriages and deaths that they have got for each year. Cheers Chris

Ann Marie, I think you will appreciate that the name Dorothy Williams is quite common so might take a while for you to trace the correct one. There were loads on 1837!! So I've looked in all 4 quarters of 1922, and only looked for ones where the mother's maiden surname was Williams as well in order to narrow it down. Geography doesn't mean much to me, so I'm sorry if the places of birth are way out !! Here's what I found: 1922 2nd quarter: Dorothy Williams : Milton: 2a(v)1808(p) 1922 3rd quarter: Dorothy Williams: Hawarden: 11b(v) 356(p) 1922 4th quarter: Dorothy Williams: Rochdale 8e(v) 99(p) Hope that this may at least start you off. Good luck, Mandy :)

Mandy its just because sometimes I have a look at their graphs on the info section and they only go up to 1910/11, Penny

Hi Pen Maybe that's why there were no results !! I'm sure you're right, but it let me go ahead and type in the years I wanted !! I've got some credits so I'll nip over to 1837 and have a look.

I think you need to look up on 1837 online it is a pay site but perhaps someone with spare credits might be able to help you. I thought FreeBMD only went up to about 1910 ,Penny

Ann Marie, I've just done a search on freebmd for a Dorothy Williams born Manchester 1922 (looked 1921-1923) but there were no results. Would she have actually been born in Manchester, or just grew up there? And would she definitely have had the surname Williams? Sorry this isn't much help, it's the best I could do, hopefully someone out there might be able to offer more help. Good luck, Mandy :)
