Hi Maggy. I've tracked a copy down to the reference library at Skipton. Its my Dad who'll be doing the travelling and as he's into his 70s, he's not into big cities much - hence not going to Leeds. We're in Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, so a trip to Skipton isn't to bad, just over the M6. Thanks again Helen

Hi Helen, try phoning the library at Harrogate. Most of the libraries that I have phoned have been very helpful. You may be lucky. I went to Doncaster library to look at the 1851 census for the Whitley area, only to find that they had it in my local library at Pontefract! Maggy

Thank you, Maggy and Dave. I was hoping they might have been at Harrogate - easier to get to from my neck of the woods. Helen

Hi, I've used Leeds a couple of times, they have the whole country BMD plus tons of other stuff news papers and so on for Yorkshire. You may need to book a reader if you intend going at weekend. xx Dave

Hi Helen, Try looking at Familia*.org and get the information for Leeds library. Haven't been there myself but have been told that they have census records for most of Yorkshire. Maggy

Hello. Does anyone know where the census records for Settle in Yorkshire are likely to be kept. I'm after 1871 especially. Thanks Helen
