I am trying to trace my grandmother who died as a result of childbirth after my mother was born on 22/12/1898. I never got to know her name and it has caused problems for me tracing my descendants. My grandfather re-married in 1914 to Alice or Agnus Bird and for several years they lived at 10 Halton Road Wallassey. My grandfather was a cotton salesman and had offices in Tythe Barne street in Liverpool. He was a prominent conservative and the family had links with the Empress of Ireland which later sank in the St. Lawrence river in Canada. My mother told us she used to go on board this ship as a child. Can anyone recall the Griffiths family from LiverpooL? I have been trying for many years to track this family down. If I could find out my grand mothers maiden name it may be a great deal of help in solving my ancestral problem. Elizabeth May, Gateshead.
