Unlinking Trees on GC

The idea of someone being able to link their tree with mine is rather nightmarish. I recently received a GC "contact" about 1 specific ancestor of mine. As there appeared to be definite links, I emailed this man (Mr A) some info and let him access my tree, but later learnt from another "contact" related to the same ancestor, that Mr A's ancestor was the descendant of a man who had changed his surname by deed poll! Hi all. I did delete the person from my list of contacts - however his link remains. I removed his right to see my tree as well. This is an annoyance. I have several other links on my tree which are proven. People shouldn't have the right to put a link on without your agreement - I know for sure I didn't agree to this link. It was my grandmother he linked to! I knew enough on her family to know he had nowt to do with them. I posted the original message 2 months ago, and the link is still there! Helen

Hi Wendy, Others on here from time to time have had trouble trying to delete contacts and have emailed support and asked GR to do it for them. Just a thought, hope it helps. Barbara

I must admit when i was "green" to all this,I used to make a Link if there was only the slightest chance,of it being true. Regards William Russell Jones Cefn Mawr Wrexham.

Hi Helen I think you may need to delete this person as a contact. If there is no real link, that would be logical anyway. Stan

Help, I want to unlink someone who has linked to my tree. Have tried taking off their access to my tree, but the link still appears. I have this on only one member of my family so how did it happen? Shirley Moth

Helen, I think I know what you mean. If you go into my contacts (left) find the name of the person who is linked to your tree and there should be an option for you to withdraw his/her the right to do it. It sat "click here". Hope this helps Gaynor

Hello. Last year I allowed someone to see my tree, because he thought he was related through my Grandmother. He linked my tree to his through her, even though she had a different name to his person and was born at a different date. Does anyone know how I can remove this link. Thanks Helen
