Thanks kathleen and Kim.I am not sure of the exact age,just that he was born around 1897 and his parents were Arthur Thomas Osborne and Marion??.His father was a Seaman.Thats all the info i have.I guess i will have to try again.

The one born in u.k (ENG CHURCH) was in the workhouse, so probably no parents around to ask where born . KIM

Hi Jeniene On Ancestry 1901 census the only 4 year old Herbert Osborne living in Alkham, Kent, was born Hailsham, Sussex, and his parents were Charles and Alice. Charles was a brickmaker. Don't know if this is your Herbert or not, but I'll save the image just in case it is and if you'd like to have it just email me. Kath Just noticed Charles comes from Essex

Thanks Helen,No.All we know is that his mum and dad were drown and that they may have come from Essex.

I don't suppose that is what the original says, that is just the transcriber's version. It's probably something that ends in -church, like Whitchurch, or Church Stretton. Do you have any idea where he was born?

Help- I went on the 1901 census, site to see if i could find my grandad.I am not sure if its the right person but it says Herbert Osborne born-U.k. Eng church,age 4 in Kent .I havent bought any credits yet just in case its not the right person.Any ideas please.on why it says born in a church? Thanks Jenny
