Hi Everyone, I am trying to locate my G / G Grandfather, Alfred Wentzell, b 1854 Wirral, Birkenhead, and his elder brother, Harry b. 1852 ??, Liverpool ?? between the years of 1852 & 1881. One of my family members has a b.c of Alfred and the parents are a James Wentzell / Charlotte Sadler. (We have details off the IGI/LDS site of a J.J.Wentzell b.1816). The only record I have of Alfred + family is from the 1891 Census at Beeson Street, Deptford) It is not any use looking any nearer than that because he emigrated to America in 1896. We have / cannot find any record of him / them from between these 1850 - 1881 years. We know details of a Charlotte Wentzell (nee Sadler b. c1839)passing from us in 1881/2, in Southwark (Guys Hospital) - Also we have a marriage certificate of Alfred in 1879. Any help / assistance much appreciated. Regards J.C. P.S I have kept the above as brief / informative as I could, and their is a lot more (confusion) that I could have added, if any can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi John, if you put this request on the Records Office board someone might do look ups in the 1861 census of some of the places you mention. Good luck. Joan |

Hi Joan, Thanks for replying to my message. I have tried and also tried varied suggestions of the info that I have on the Records Office Board, and other G.C researchers have come up with some really outstanding results, - one exceptional one was finding NEUTZELL for WENTZELL, on the 1881 Census, - how GEN from Ealing worked that one out I'll never know !,....Also finding another strain of the family in / from the Greenwich area.........It's the 1850 - 1881 time gap that I am trying to locate them. I'm at the stage of thinking that they were not on any type of registration between these times as I have found / believe them to have been associated with Mechant Shipping / Engineering covering these years, and moved around a bit. The main areas that keep cropping up are Stepney / Hackney / Islington...Liverpool / Birkenhead, Wirral...Newington,Southwark & Deptford / Greenwich between the years of 1800 - 1891. Thanks again for answering my message, Good Hunting, Regards J.C. |
