how do i find where my grandfather was born, i have little information to go on, harold arthur born1915 died 28 may 1973 lived in liverpool in 1938....was my father his only child ect........thanks in anticipation.......

As you know the year, you should be able to find him on 1837online(.)com. This will tell you the district his birth was registered in and his mother's maiden name. Of course, if you then order the birth certificate, you'll get even more precise information!
