Thanks for your replies. Helen, We don't know when she came over I'm afraid, and I have tried different spellings of CARROLL. Chris, the Theresa, 22 born Dublin looks promising, I didn't mention she was TERESA, did you use the 1901 decoder? John, thanks for that link! I'm sorry I forgot to name her. I'll do it now. Julie

You can find Kelly's and Pigot's Directories at this site www.historicaldirectories(.)org/ - remove the brackets. There are some Carrolls living in Plymouth but the directories are usually restricted to business persons and the wealthier residents. You dont give your gt grandmother's name. There are quite a few on the FreeCEN UK site in the 1891 census for Devon. John

Julie Do you know when she came over from Ireland? Also have you tried permutations of Carroll when looking? Helen

......to find out if my great grandmother Teresa CARROLL (who married in Plymouth 1905), was the only CARROLL member of her family living in Plymouth? She was born in Ireland c1880, and I am unable to find her on ANY census. Her father's name (according to her marriage certificate), was Martin CARROLL. I thought I'd try to see if there was a Kelly's Directory (or something similar), for Plymouth for 1905, but I am not having much luck. Any ideas?? Where can I look next? Many thanks, Julie
