can anyone help me find the death certificate for John McDowell b 1815 Died 17/11/1849 Stoke Damerel Devon also Mary Ann McDowell nee Gerry29/1/1837 Plymouth As I cant find anything on were they were born with this family who were married in Devon Would be most gratefull Joyce from Portsmouth II WAS THE WRONG JOHN CAN ANYONE HELP ME TRACE HIS DEATH PLEASE

Joyce There is a marriage on the IGI of a John McDowell to Jane Jervis in Stoke Damerel on 03 Oct 1815 - could these be your John's parents? And I also wondered if the 1849 death is John Snr, as your John would be 34. He may have died young of course, but it might be his father? FreeBMD give a birth ref for Mary Ann Gerry 1837 Dec Okehampton 10 p160. Helen

Hello Helen Thank you very much for the info This is quite possible but I was given johns death from a researcher in devon so I have sent off for the death certificate now as I wasnt sure if william and mary were the parents how can I find anymore information have they a census for devon before this time I have the 1851 for devon and norfolk which doesnt help anyhow its nice to hear from you Joyce

There's an 1841 census for Eng & Wales, but I think it isn't indexed, and also a lot of the images are v. difficult to decipher. Helen
