haven't seen that before - could be a memory leak on the PC though. Best bet is to go to the microsoft home page on teh web and send them an email detailing the fault - they're normally quite good at responding

It sounds like the Sasser virus to me. Make sure you have all the latest Microsoft updates installed and a good up to date virus checker SAndi Email me if you need any help

Christine Whilst I am no computer whizz or anything - two things strike me here. 1. If you get an error in Word (and some other programmes) it usually prompts you to ask you if want to send an error message to Microsoft. Have you had this come up? 2. Is your virus checker truly 100% up to date - it does sound like a virus - and if it isn't up to date, then all the checking in the world won't find it. Good luck Gaynor

The Sasser virus will close your machine down....counting it down, and will not necessarily show up on a virus checker. Even an up to date one. If you make sure you have the latest Microsoft updates on your machine it should stop the problem. SAndi

I think the sasser Virus will shut the whole computer down... not just Word. Have you got "auto-save" enabled? If you are short of memory that might cause the problem when it tries to save what you have done. Follow Judy's cleanup instructions and see if that helps or delete some stuff you don't need. (Better still - do both). Bob

Christine Word has an automatic save feature which saves your work every 10 minutes or so, so that it can recover from a crash. You can find it in tools>options>save then Save AutoRecover info every ? check box. Untic this and see what happens. Bob
