Has anyone heard of a place called Martin in Dorset? I have a relative on 1881 census aged 40 saying this is his birthplace. I've looked on 1837 online but can't find anything. I've also looked on IGI and 1901 census but nothing there either. Cheers Naomi |

Looking at the atlas there is a Martin in Hampshire, on the Dorset border. It could have originally been in Dorset. Just North of Ferndown Ann Glos |

Hi Naomi, Martin looks to be about 2 miles over the Dorset border into Hampshire, possibly the boundaries changed at some time? ( Its tucked in the far corner where Wiltshire Dorset and Hampshire meet). Best wishes Elaine. x |
