can anyone help? i have my g.grans marriage cert. it has the name of her father in law who was Thomas Churchill, g.gran was Carry Rouse she married James Henry Churchill, one of the witness's was a Ruth Churchill,i presume a relation to James Henry, can anyone find Thomas Churchill on any census before or in 1897,that is when the marriage took place. oh!almost forgot, g.gran was from little compton warwick, not sure if james henry was from there but they were married in Elmsthorpe Leicester. many thanks, chris.

Gen, could you tell me what year this is? on the cert i have James was 30 in 1897, not sure if it is the right family! one of James's children is still alive (in her 80s now) she has told me he had sisters Mary & Nance(could be Nancy) i have printed your reply and i will hold onto it untill i find out for sure. many thanks for your help. Chris, It looks like these are all from the 1881 census. Reference RG11 is 1881, RG12 is 1891 and RG13 is 1901. Crista

Found the family in 1901 (using census decoder) Census place Barwell, Leicestershire Thomas Churchill 56 Warick Long Compton Roadman Leah Churchill 55 Oxford Hingham Frederick Churchill 33 Warick Long Compton Farm Labourer Emily Churchill 22 Oxford Barton Thomas Churchill 17 Oxford Over Norton Shoe Finisher Christopher Churchill 15 Oxford Barton Shoe Finisher Looks like Francis T is known by second name, Thomas No sister Nancy but perhaps Annie, who was there in 1881, got called Nance?
