Hi all. Just an update on my silly question. I have e-mailed the vicar who has very kindly replied. It would seem that at his church burial records for pre 1931 are held by the council and located in the library archives. For anything after this the graveyard recrds are still held by the church. The vicar was very helpful infact he even said when i find the plot number from the archives they will locate it for me and accompany me to find it. Fingers crossed i dnt have too much difficulty in the archives and i should have an answer soon. For anyone with the same dilema a quick e-mail to the parish vicar may help you too. Kelly x

Thanks you all so much for your help. I will contact the church during the week and let you know how i get on. With any luck it will be a family burial plot which would simplify things. Im not sure where y local records office is though. So far i have done most things on line. Is this the sort of thing thats kept at the local library archives? Thanks again Kelly x

One church copied all of their Mumford records (they were computerized) but it was a huge expense (you couldn't ask for one record -- it was either all or none). It included birth, banns, marriage and burial. Another church didn't have anyone in their parish with the name I was looking for (Vaus) but the pastor looked through the telephone directory and gave me four names -- one turned out to be related! A cemetery in Canada not only gave me information about the ancestor I had asked about, they gave me full information of the people he was buried with. And will take a picture of the grave for me. I've been researching a long time and I have found that if you don't ask for too much, people will help you and quite often will give you more than you asked for. Good luck!

Hello Kelly the only silly question is the one that isn't asked. They may be buried in the churchyard, in which case the records will almost certainly be held at your nearest records office, but the church could confirm this. Alternatively there may be a local cemetery which will keep its own records. Helen

Hi Me again everyone. I have just had apossibly very silly thought. However i will run it past you all the same. Being that all my faveney relations origionate from the Boothtown area, and for some im having great difficulty finding deaths. I wonder if it would be worth me contactig the local church. In this instance this woud be all souls chuch @ boothtown. To see if they have cemetry records so i can trace the plot. Has anyone had any success this way?
