Hi, I am researching the names Stephenson all around Greysouthern, Brigham, Broughton, Bridekirk,except the oringinal one he's from either Lanercost or Brampton, Phillips from Egremont, Gunsons from Bolton Cumberland, Same Nesbitts as Geoff, Gallantry from Cockermouth, Creighton from St Bees, Butlers from Whitehaven and Glasgow, Campbells from Whitehaven and Glasgow. My great great grandfather William COPELAND was born in Whitehaven and his wife Elizabeth (PUGMIRE) was born in Dalston. They were married in Wetheral.

My Mum was a Burns from Lowca/Whitehaven. Her mother was a Coan whose second marriage was to a Nesbitt. Also Bell, Wallace, Pennington, Youl, Stuart/Stewart, generally around Whitehaven.

I live in Carlisle and I am researching the following names in Cumbria. MARTIN:CAMPBELL:MARK:ABBOT:SAUNDERS:FOSTER:BELL These are the main ones, all from North Cumbria - Brampton, Walton, Kirklinton, Carlisle, Longtown. Any help would be great..........

Hi Margaret, I have Tweddle's from Stapleton, Cragg's from Cockermouth and Mumberson's from Keswick in my tree.

My Dad's family is strong in Cumberland. Family names are Horne, Teare, Peel, Christian and Smith(!). I can trace the Peels back to Lettice Peel, sister of the famous John Peel, the Hornes were miners and the Teares and Christians hopped back and forth from the Isle of Man. Sound familiar to anyone?

Ive been researching Sampsons and Tinnions from Whitehaven,Cleator from 1860s-1940s and also Barrow in Furness and Walney Island Anna

Hi, I'm in Barrow-in-Furness in south Cumbria. Most of my family have been here for over a hundred years. Prior to that I have Browns and Graingers from Cockermouth. They came to Barrow in the 1860's. Wilsons from Kendal, who moved to Whitehaven and married Rowells - Barrow 1880's. I have Abbotts and Dents from the Shap area. The Dent married an Anderson from London in Liverpool, and fetched up in Barrow in the 1890's. Others who are in Barrow from the midlands are Lee, Lees, Clews, Harris and Morrall who all arrived in the 1870's and lastly the newcomers - Clarks who came here in 1913., from Walsall via Sheffield
