Louise I have just stumbled across this site, had a look on it, and found some Proops! First site I found is www.nljewgen.org/content/searchnl.html within that, there are lots to look at, and they are in English, so it says! I clicked on genlias, and it takes you to the site, and you have to click up the top on English, then it is understandable. I searched for Proops, and it brought up a few names. The site it takes you to is www.genlias.nl Happy hunting Lisa xx

You could try sticking an ad on the web site I work for. Just go to the url www.marktplaats.nl and put an ad in the section contacten/opsporing verzocht which basically means "looking for someone". Or if you give me your email address and the text you which to put in I will place the ad for you myself.

Hi Louise I live there, and I wouldn't have a clue where to go. There are some sites on the net I have come across, but I forget what they are now. Someone suggested sometime ago a site for Holland that was in English, but I can't remember what it was. Great help aren't I!!!!! Have you tried the IGI, there are some Dutch records on there. Maybe the Dutch site I am trying to think of is on the best websites thread. Lisa xx

If its any help, there is an article in the current (June) "Your Family Tree" magazine about tracing ancestors from the Netherlands. It says the records are well kept. You should be able to get it from Smiths at £4.99. Anne

Any advice/ideas on how to trace a relative who was born in Holland in 1825. The name is GOODMAN PROOPS. I don't know when he came over but his daughter was born in London in 1842 and she was called SARAH.
