ATS - what does it stand for?

My grandmothers occupation/rank is listed as Private ******* ATS on her marriage certificate from 1943. But what does ATS stand for. Am sure its really obvious but I've been racking my brains all night and I haven't got a clue! Cheers Kerry

I think its Auxillary Territorial Service.It was the womans army branch Anna

HM The Queen served in the ATS and some of the early photo's of her show her in uniform, changing a lorry wheel etc. Keith
