Having had mixed success in tracing my ancestors, I have however drawn pretty much a blank when it comes to discovering and other children apart from my immediate ancestors. Can anybody please advise Gary |

FamilySearch is the LDS site (LDS stands for Latter Day Saints). You can search the IGI section of the site using parents' names. |

IGI = International Genealogical Index. It is an index taken from parish registers of baptisms and marriages. Not all areas are covered, and what is included isn't comprehensive. Address www.freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm. Easy to follow instructions will take you to county, then parish, then the batch nos. C numbers are baptisms, M numbers are marriages - the dates covered are usually listed alongside. Click on this and it opens a window for you to type the name you are looking for - or you can leave it blank to bring up all records. The records are alphabetical and use soundex eg Matthews/Mathews and Chowns/Chouns will be together. Click an individual record to get details. NB: the IGI is a guide only. You need to check with the actual register to verify details. LDS site is www.familysearch.org. Happy hunting. Helen |
