Firstley what certificates have you got him on and work back wards. Have you tried www(.)durham(.)gov(.)uk/gro/search(.)nsf/search+index remove brackets. Have you tried Free BMD the addy is in links on this site Mary

Right... my grandad, i think, was born somewhere between 1902 and 1907, and i think(!) around Durham. He died in the Midlands somewhere around 1958-ish. And all i know is his name is down as Jack on my dads birth certificate and that he was in the army with his brother at some point, and spent time in the Midlands in WW2. HOW do i find details on this man?!! Any ideas? And apologies for anyone ive emailed with the right surname in roughly the right area- i'm clutching at straws now!
