How to rectify linking to wrong name in contacts?

I've contacted someone and have clicked wrong name for link and I can't seem to change it. Tried deleting contact and trying again but its still linked to wrong name. Don't know whether the contacted person can actually get to right contact name or whether its only the name actually linked to. Help!!!!
